Massage
Our resident experts in physio led massage, Lauren & Kim, will help you understand the different massage styles and what might be most beneficial for you. Creating your own personal session is important to us, so we will spend time to chat through your requirements and goals on your first visit to us.
WHY MASSAGE?
At MT Physiotherapy we primarily offer 3 forms of massage but we're always looking at other evidence based treatment that can assist on your route to recovery. So always ask if there's something more that you're interested in.
Our techniques are tailored to every individual client, after all no two bodies are the same! We ensure that the correct pressure is applied to your muscles to most successfully relieve tension and ease pain. We are firm believers in the natural power of 'the science of touch' and understand the positive impact something as simple as a massage can have on helping your body activate, rest and repair most effectively.
Is massage for you? Absolutely! From a high level athlete to someone looking for a deep sense of relaxation, or if you are suffering from "chronic pain" (persistent pain of more than a few months) we believe that massage is a great tool for ensuring good physical health and general wellbeing. SPORTS MASSAGE
Sports Massage is a form of deep tissue massage designed to help decrease stress and tension build up in soft tissue.
We can provide a pre or post event massage that help you and your body warm up and "get in the zone" or warm down afterwards to help with recovery and prevent injury.
This technique can also be used to maintain your physical-health when increasing your training load. Remember, an increase in training should also be accompanied by the correct rest and repair programme.

Repair, restore and keep those minor injuries at bay. Don't let anything get in the way of your performance.
DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE
This form of remedial massage is a more general provision, helping relieve tension for a multitude of issues.
We use techniques that treat the stress, tension and fatigue that occurs through occupational, recreational or sporting activities, ensuring that you receive the best possible relief for your particular area of concern.
Tired, sore, aching or strained muscles are treated by applying more pressure than a Swedish massage to focus on the deepest layer of muscles.

Whilst most helpful for chronic muscle problems, Deep Tissue Massage is suitable for all individuals looking to relieve their symptoms.
SWEDISH MASSAGE
Swedish Massage is the quintessential form of massage. Whilst this technique is one of the first things therapists are taught, we like to think of it as basic but effective in providing the ultimate relaxation.
Through techniques such as: stroking and gliding, kneading, rubbing, tapping and vibration we can improve circulation, sooth your muscles and make you feel more relaxed.

Swedish massage is particularly effective at easing muscular strain by flushing out toxins as a result of improved circulation and increased oxygen flow to the blood.
This lighter treatment is suitable for all patients and improves wellbeing.
